They would work for a little while and then the neck pain and headaches would return. Basically it would be very difficult to stay in just the right position to avoid neck pain and headaches the next day. I’ve used the Kanuda Piano pillow for about six months and the contours and firm insert in the neck area make it very easy to maintain proper support through the night, for both back and side sleeping. Thanks Kanuda for helping reduce my migraines by probably 80% the last six months. Note, I’m ordering a Kanuda pillow case today because a regular size one tends to get caught under my shoulder and prevent proper positioning of the pillow when side sleeping. To correct it I have to lift my shoulder and pull the excess pillow case out so the contoured pillow can nestle up under my neck between my shoulder. The second pic shows the overhang. I think a properly sized case will solve this problem.

After I had a sleep study done and results showed that I do not have sleep apnea I knew I had to find a pillow that supported my head but also allowed me to keep my airway open. The Piano Air Pillow is amazing. Contours are perfect whether I’m on my back or side. It’s expensive but very much worth it.

Neck issues cured: I have had a neck fusion and years of neck pains but within a week of receiving this pillow I feel great. I can read in it and sleep either on sides or on back. Highly recommended.
