Specifically, I surmised that the way the plunger squeezed the leaves would stop extraction between steeps more thoroughly than just letting the hot wet leaves continue to steep in a ceramic brewing vessel. I found I actually guessed right about that, but I was dissatisfied with using the AP in inverted mode. I heard about the Prismo and tried it. It’s obviously more stable and less sloppy than doing multiple steeps inverted, but what surprised and pleased me is that it actually does a better job of expelling moisture from the leaves than the original AP (metal) filter and cap.
